I like number-crunching, I spent many years working in nonprofit and government and developing budgets and tracking numbers was always one of my favorite parts of the job. My last job was as the Executive Director of a small non-profit, and it was then that I learned that accounting was a field unto its own; I learned this because I couldn't understand most of what the CPA who was auditing our books was talking about. I decided to learn about this accounting stuff, and eventually got a Certificate in Not-for-Profit Accounting from NYU.
Now, I love accounting. The accounting model and double-entry bookkeeping process that are used today were developed way back in the Renaissance, when commercial exchange began to boom and merchants needed a way to "account" for financial transactions. What was developed then is still around because it works so well.
I love to explain the what's, why's, and how's of accounting so that keeping track of your money can be painless, and even fun. I never sacrifice integrity or quality, but I do like to keep things simple, so I will never recommend unnecessary work.
I am an Interfaith/Interspiritual Minister and an energy healer as well as a number cruncher. I live in Kingston, New York and am available to work in person locally or via Zoom or telephone for other locations.
